This coffee is produced by many smallholder farmers who deliver their harvested coffee to the Kalua Factory (as wet mills are called in Kenya). Machakos is one of the lesser known coffee producing regions, but it's topography and high altitude afford the cultivation of high quality coffee. This particular lot has notes of brown sugar, cranberry and a hint of sweetness, reminiscent of fresh strawberries.

Clean + Crisp Coffee :)

This is the second bag of coffee I have ever purchased via IG and I felt like it was meant to be. As a beginner gradually blooming into the world of coffee, this was really a blessing to experience. Actually this would technically be the 4th bag of coffee I have ever purchased in my life-time with Starbucks (Pike Place) and Folger’s 1850 (Lantern Glow) being the first two followed by Detour’s Limited Summer Roast (Day-Dream). I must admit that this roast was my favourite out of all largely because I did not experience any headaches or agitation drinking this very roast. It also has a very, very crisp taste and it powered me through my entire day meaning 10am to 10pm; 1 tbsp only! I am truly pleased with the quality of this roast because it simply makes me feel awesome! :)

No tasting notes but it’s clean

The smell wasn’t as nice as I thought it was going to be upon first opening but I am still experimenting with all different kinds of coffee beans as I am a new beginner. Maybe it’s how washed beans smells and tastes? It’s got a very good kick and strength but I’m just not really tasting the undernotes at all compared to other brands such as Detour and Folger’s 1850. I’ve only mentioned those two labels because they are actually the only two brands I’ve tried since I’ve began my coffee journey besides Starbucks disaster called Pike Place.
